MME Manufacturing Co. (Pty) Ltd has been operating since February 1979. The first pneumatically driven hoist, manufactured by ourselves was delivered to the mining industry in 1980.

Over the next few years modifications were carried out in order to manufacture an air hoist capable of withstanding the harsh handling and operating conditions encountered in South African mines.

During the 1980’s, the mines were purchasing mining hoists from Sweden, Germany, Japan and the United States. In 1986, Anglo American Corporation of South Africa commissioned the National Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (Mine Equipment Research Unit) to carry out extensive tests on all units then available. Subject to these results, MME Manufacturing was awarded the Anglo American Corporation contract for the supply of air hoists. We currently supply all the major mining houses in South Africa including Goldfields, Gencor, Harmony, Impala Platinum and Lonmin Platinum.

In 1996 MME developed its first 500kg industrial hoist. Since then the range has expanded to include hoists form 250kg to 10 tonne and a full range of trolleys to suite. All our industrial hoists can be supplied conforming to EC regulations.

MME has also developed a comprehensive range of winches including double drum air scraper, capstan air winches, monorope air winches and single drum air scraper winches. Our latest offering includes an air operated Shunting Tracktor™.
